Gender Studies

INTRODUCTION:

Government Fatima Jinnah College, Chunna Mandi is pioneer in colleges of Punjab who introduced gender studies as a subject at graduation and post graduation level. Gender Studies department become functional in 2004 with the efforts of then principal Mrs. Shama Salman Khaliq. Mrs. Musarta Kalanchi served as first head of department. The University of Punjab approved its affiliation in 2005. Since then, it is remarkably flourishing. The department is situated in main building at upper portion. The department was established to create awareness among students of walled city about women status, empowerment and for emphasizing the positive and important role of Women in society. Gender studies also aims to develop equality among genders with anti hostility to each other.
